Hello students!

Did you notice the picture up above?  It is a picture of President Harry Truman, one of our past presidents of the United States.  Guess what?  He was a pianist!  He is playing a Baldwin grand piano (his favorite type of piano) in the East Room of the white house in 1961.  When he was a boy, he got up at 5:00 in the morning so he could practice the piano for two hours every day.  Read more about that .HERE.  He is not the only musical president that we have had, but he is the first one that we were able to film.  HERE is a clip of him playing the piano in 1952.

Another president pianist is former President Richard M. Nixon.  He was not only a pianist, but was also a composer!  HERE he is playing his Piano Concert No. 1 in 1961.

We have had several other presidents of the United States that were musical and you can read about them HERE.
